WOMAN TROUBLE
By Donna Penley Th’ ol’ rancher’s a hard an’ ornery ole coot; It’s said he was once a handsome galoot! It’s quite well known he’s had lotsa gals -- Now just let me tell ya about some o’his pals. There’s Alice, she ain’t got th’ looks she once had; Her teeth ain’t so good, an’ her eyesight’s bad, But he cain’t give her up, just cain’t do so, Though his wife is itchin’ ta see her go Then there’s Margo. She’s a good ol’ rip, He picked her up on a West Coast trip; She had a baby for ‘im every year; Some he was fond of – held quite dear. Now, Mary Jane, she’s held her own; Once she helped him t’ get a loan, Helped him hold things all together, When he battled bad luck an’ badder weather. He sees his gals have whatever they need; His wife says she’ll leave an’ take the deed, T’ th’ place an’ go someplace where it’s warm, She’s tired of th’ ol’ gals workin’ their charm. But he’s a downright stubborn ol’ cuss – Asks his wife to not make a fuss; So she says she’ll hang on a little while, an’ Gives him her best “I’ll put up with ya” smile. He leaves th’ ranch house early one morn; Looks out ‘cross th’ land where he was born. He knows it’s almost time to go, To leave th’ land that he loves so -- An’ th’ gals come to him in single file; an’ He gives ‘em hay an’ a pat an’ a smile; His herd has dwindled down, you see -- There’s Alice an’ Margo. Mary Jane makes three. Copyright Protected

It appears to me that feminism was not a well known ideal back then. I understand the pain of having to be a woman before. I'm glad that you've made an impact in your time. You are a very strong willed person. You are an inspiration to all women in the world.
