What’s Good For Your Soul
By Donna Penley These days it’s cool t’ be dressed up an’ lookin’ squeaky clean; No unclean hands, no dirty nails – do you know what I mean? Folks nowadays don’t know how t’ work – won’t dirty up their hands; No sweat, no strain, no bother. That’s just not in their plans. The kids are worse, expect so much an’ give nothin’ in return; No household chores, no cleanin’ rooms –won’t get off the divan. Their nose stuck in a cell phone, or some electronic device; An’ they ain’t payin’ for it – of that they don’t think twice. Oh, I’m just pure country folk Sometimes my hands ain’t clean. But I know what’s good for th’ soul an’ all things in between. I love and care for nature’s things, creatures great an’ small, If my hands are dirty, my soul is clean, God don’t care at all. So, if you’re tired of ‘me first’ attitudes, an folks who break the rules; Get off th’ couch and volunteer . Your hands will fit th’ tools. You might get a little dirty an’ your fingernail not clean, Then you’’l l know what’s good for your soul – an’ all things in between. Protected by Copyright
