THE CHRISTMAS TREE ANGELS

12/26/2016

THE CHRISTMAS TREE ANGELS
By Donna Penley

We went out to hunt a Christmas tree one cold December day,
And we had found just the right one and were on our homeward way.
It began to get real dark as we made our way along;
Then, all of a sudden we both heard it.  It was an Angel’s song!
I took a sidelong glance at my pard, an he took one at me,
And we COcommenced to look around, to see what we could see.
But, there was nothing on the trail before us.  Nothing met our eyes.
But, the horses pulled up sharply and acted real surprised --
To hear the sound of Gloria being sung out on the plains.
Soprano, Contralto, Alto and Bass filling in the strains.
Then, up above us, there appeared a silver cloud.  I swear it was the Angel Gabriel who proclaimed to us aloud:
“Glory to the Father.  Glory to his Son.  And, glory to the Trinity -- whence all ye mortals come.
We bowed our heads in reverence.  The horses shook with awe -- and when we both looked up again there was nothing but an empty draw.
Wel, we made our way back to the ranch, feelin’ kinda strange about that wonderful things we’d witnessed out there on the range.
So, now every time it’s Christmas and we go out to hunt a tree
I think about that wondrous night the angels sang for me.
And I wish the world would stop and listen -- Think what Christmas is about.
Then they could hear the angels sing.
OF THAT I HAVE NO DOUBT.
