STANDIN’ ON TH’ RIMROCK
By Donna Penley Tonight as I stand on th’ rim rock, I feel what th’ spirits must feel; Th’ vast panorama, th’ sheer majesty, makes me humble, my sould t’ kneel Before th’ power of nature -- life, death, th’ call of th’ wild; Th’ things that go on around us as time passes by -- Th’ return of man to a child. For, a child only sees th’ truth of it all, an’ man sees only th’ gain ’ Th’ condition of th’ human spirit is a mix of great joy an’ great pain. Th’ bright candle that flickers on th’ bunkhouse table throws dark shadows on th’ wall - An’ th’ feather that’s loosed from th’ eagle can’t fortell it’s fall. If you stand out here on th’ rim rock, you can truly see for miles; An’ you realize you’re far, far away from life’s most maudlin trials.. For, if you want t’ gain wisdom, you put yourself to th’ test -- An’ you stand out here on th’ rim rock, -- ‘Cause, from here, th’ view’s th’ best!! Copyright Protected
