Life out on the prairie was sometimes hard and lean; Cookie at th’ chuckwagon boiled up salt pork an’ beans. coffee in an ol’ tin cop was the fanciest they got; They didn’t need no flavorin’ as long as it was hot! Th’ deer jerky an’ hard tackc was mighty hard t’ chew; But th’ hands never complained much, since meals was far an’ few. An’ a stringy ol’ jack rabbit was a treat thrown in th’ pot; Taters an’ wild onions helped th’ flavorin’ a lot. They didn’t have fancy seasonin’s – firewood was hard t’ find; All they had was dried up chips from a buffalo’s behind. An’, they kinda thought they was eatin’ high when a rattle snake was found; Cooked up in an ol’ iron skillet with sage they had hand ground. When Cookie rang th’ breakfast iron, they really rallied ‘round; Drank hot Arbuckle coffee, an’ through their teeth sifted th’ grounds. Folks in this modern day an’ age don’t appreciate th’ fact; They had no artificial additives, but flavor didn’t lack! Protected by Copyright

That was terrific! I hope to see here more topics in the future. It will be nice if you'll add more of your early poems here.
