DON’T LET ‘EM TRASH TH’ FLINTHILLS!
By Donna Penley This came to my attention th’ other day – an’ it made me pretty sad;Now that I’ve had time to think on it, it riles me – makes me fightin’ mad. Seems like some folks in , Kansas, want t’ dump their trash on us; Wants t’ dump trash in th’ Flinthills - now ain’t that just a bust? Oh, they been plumb sneaky - didn’t want th’ ranchers t’ find out Jest what they all was up to – what it was all about. Now, since their camp’s some miles away, d’ya think it makes it right, To fill our valleys with their trash? Would you put up a fight, If yore backyard they planned t’ junk, ruin th’ beauty of yore land? Or, would ya smile an’ say, “We shore don’t care – we’ll even lend a hand”? No, friend, I shore don’t think so. Jest take a look around! These hills been here for eons – an’ some’s been sacred ground. An’ it ain’t jest Kansas folks that plans on dumpin’ here; Some of th’ Yankees way back east want t’ trash us too, I fear! They think it’ll cost less moolah to ship trash out here, by rail, Than take it on themselves to reduce their ‘paper trail’. Th’ beauty of the Flinthills has for so long filled my heart – An’ to have ‘em trashed up an’ polluted jest tears m’ mind apart; So, if ya care what happens t’ th’ beauty of this land, Grab a pen, pick up th’ phone. Oh, Pard, please lend a hand!! Write an’ call up these planners, give ‘em reason to take pause; T’ ponder on th’ gravity – of th’ mayhem they will cause ,. If they go ahead with their dire plan, other states will surely follow – An’ we don’t want th’ stately Flinthills in their refuse ere to wallow! Don’t let ‘em trash th’ Flinthills!!!!
