THE MEASURE OF A MAN
By Donna Penley I glanced down at the ol’ cowboy’s hand -- Time an’ hard labor had left their brand. An’ etched ‘round his eyes were deep laugh lines; Th’ mark of many smiles -- an’ the march of time. His gaze was straight an’ strong an’ true; His eyes could look right into you. How do you gauge th’ measure of a man? It’s th’ look in his eye an’ th’ clasp of his hand! An’ a heart that’s strong an’ loyal, too -- You sense, in a pinch, he’d take care of you. So, what can you learn from a man’s handshake? If all your senses are awake -- You can gauge th’ measure of a man, By th’ look in his eye an’ the clasp of his hand. Copyright Protected
