WHY I LOVE COWBOYS
By Donna Penley Why do I love cowboys ? Let me count th’ ways. Folks, be patient with me, ’cause this just might take days. My daddy was a cowboy, an’ he set th’ bar real high, For any man t’ measure up. With th’ good ones, it’s a tie. Cowboys come right out an’ tell you just what’s on their minds, They’re cool an’ calm an’ laid back, an’ I think you will find, They work real hard an’ don’t complain, no matter what th’ task They do th’ work required of them -- whatever th’ bossman asks. They’re brash an’ wild an’ daring -- most don’t give a care Just what anybody thinks , as expletives split th’ air! An’ just how do you tell th’ measure of a man? It’s th’ honest look in his eyes an’ the grip of his right hand. It’s his straightforward manner, in business or in cards; An’ he’s equally up front with th’ boss, or with his favorite pards! Th’ good ones don’t brag a lot, unless it’s rodeo time, An’ most are real good listeners -- ‘ Buddy, it’s your dime‘. Why do I love cowboys? They’re what’s left of the West, So, that’s why I love cowboys. I think they’re just th’ best! So, if it came right down to it, an’ I just had to choose, Between a cowboy an’ a dude? W ell, you can bet th’ dude would lose ! That’s why I love cowboys! Copyright Protected
